Our Executive Black Belt Program (EBBP) was developed by Grand Master Irwin Carmichael. For many years people have been complaining that our regularly schedule class times did not meet their needs due to their busy schedules. Mr. Carmichael found that teaching these students privately and on their schedules was a benefit to both him and the student. Because the students were learning from a Master instructor, who’s teaching skill was superb, and the training was one on one, he noticed that the students could grasp the requirements quicker than most students did in a group setting. He also noticed that the students who preformed the best seemed to be the same people who excelled in other areas of their lives, professional business people who had already learned self -discipline, focus, self control and the other life skills that make martial arts students excellent Black Belts. Mr. Carmichael felt that these students could accelerate the learning curve and master the basic requirements at a faster pace that the average student who comes to 1-2 classes a week in a group setting. He set out to develop a program designed for this type of student. The EBBP is a result of that hard work.
Each EBBP student attends an hour class and is given “homework” to complete before his next class time. Because this individual is self-motivated and is accustomed to working hard and getting the job done, the instructor will check off the student at the next lesson to make sure all work is completed. When the instructor feels the student has mastered the requirement he will then move to the next one. Each and every requirement must be met just as any other student in a traditional class. To ensure that we maintain consistency in all classes and schools, The International Shorinji Kempo Karate Federation requires that All students testing for Black Belt MUST test at the I.S.K.K.F. Black Belt exams held in the spring or fall of each year. 3 Certified Testing Examiners of level 4 or higher will grade each student based on that student’s performance. Each student must meet the minimum requirements for promotion to Black Belt.
